Privacy Policy

Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), and preferred language.

Household information: your household's name, base currency, invite codes, and the roles (owner or member) of the people in it.

Content you add: the accounts, transactions, and budgets you record in Finance; the products, stock, and shopping lists in Pantry; your Chores; and the Subscriptions, Furniture, and Renovation projects you track.

Billing information: creating a household on Beeton requires an active subscription. Our payment processor collects your card details directly; we only receive your subscription status, chosen plan, and billing history, never your full card number.

Basic technical data collected by our hosting providers to run the app, such as your approximate location (used only to suggest a default language) and standard request logs.

How we use your information

To provide the features described above: keeping your household's finances, pantry, chores, and subscriptions organized and in sync between the members you invite.

To authenticate you, keep you signed in, and protect your account.

To process and manage your household's subscription.

To suggest a sensible default language when you first visit, based on your approximate location.

We do not sell your personal data or the household data you enter, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies, all necessary to run the app: one to keep you signed in, one to remember your chosen language, and, during checkout, cookies set by our payment processor.

We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings if you prefer, though blocking the sign-in cookie will sign you out of Beeton.

Payments and billing

Creating a household requires an active subscription. Checkout and recurring billing are handled by Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe receives your card and billing address details directly; we never see or store them.

We keep only what's needed to keep your household's access matching what's been paid for: subscription status, plan, and billing interval (monthly or yearly).

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored in a Postgres database hosted by Neon, the application itself runs on Vercel, and payment data is held by Stripe. Each processes data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

Sharing your information

We share data with service providers only as needed to run Beeton (currently Neon, Vercel, and Stripe), and with the other members of your own household, according to their role.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Beeton, our users, or others. Beyond that, we don't share or sell your data.

Data retention

We keep your account and household data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account or household data deleted, contact us and we'll process the request.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, for example under Brazil's LGPD or the EU's GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to object to how it's used. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text, and traffic to Beeton is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children's privacy

Beeton is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Beeton evolves. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and let you know if a change is significant.
